Friday, alt-pop favorites The era of the driver released their new single, “Malibu“. The escapist brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch wrote the song while dreaming of personal experiences. “‘Malibu’ is about reminiscing about experiences in the best places,” the band said. “It’s about escaping. It’s the spontaneous journey you take with someone – maybe you’ve known them before, or maybe you’re meeting them for the first time.

“Malibu” follows the band’s first single of 2022, the dance-inspired feat “Keep Moving Forward.” Nikka Costa, who was featured earlier this month on Rolling Stone. Both singles will be featured on the band’s albums summer mixtapeslated for release later this summer.

After a successful run of sold-out shows in the United States in 2021 and Latin America earlier this year, the band will kick off their 2022 summer tour today, August 1, in 24 cities across the United States and Canada. Afterwards, the guys will continue their GIRLFRIEND WORLD TOUR, performing in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, as well as Europe and the UK for the very first time as The Driver Era. The band is due to play New York’s Rooftop at Pier 17 this Thursday and we’re already counting down the minutes. Be sure to get your ticket as soon as possible as tickets are already low and sold out for many dates.
